My flash fantasy Doorkeeper is out in the first issue of Factor Four Magazine. I’ve just been reading the other stories on the site (all short-shorts, as per the guidelines) and enjoying how much they make me think. I love huge rambling stories–my favorite novel is Les Misérables– but I am coming to appreciate what a very short story can do. The ones I’ve read so far in this magazine frame a question, with vivid detail and almost poetic concision, and then leave the reader to wrestle with the resolution. I’m going to be reading more stories that do that–maybe writing more too.
Unfortunately, to read the stories you have to either pay $4 to subscribe or buy a copy…I need to work on getting more stories in places where people can read them free of charge.
