A most peculiar picture

I have an odd little speculative political fable coming out in the Normal Deviation fiction anthology, which is now Kickstarting.
I’ve often complained about the covers of speculative fiction books and magazines. But this cover image fits the stories perfectly, because they were all written to describe it. The submissions call asked us to briefly describe, but not write up, the first two ideas that occurred to us about the story which this picture might be illustrating, and then to actually flesh out and write up our third ideas.  My third-idea story is called “The Last Protest,” and I think I heard that one will be called “Brexit,” but some writers’ minds seem to have gone in very different directions. I’m looking forward to reading them all.
