Uffda Press is re-releasing “King of Ages,” the peculiar Arthurian anthology in which my story “She Who Makes Us Free” appeared four years ago, and today (Friday 8/2) it’s free on Kindle.
The anthology premise was that an Arthur figure–someone idealistic charismatic, and capable of uniting disparate and hostile groups to confront a shared threat–is born in every generation, and is advised by a Merlin-figure (who, following T.H. White’s conception, is living backward through time, recalling the future but not the past.) My Arthur-figure is an immigrant textile worker who ends up, to her own surprise, leading a strike during the widespread labor unrest of 1911… Other writers took the premise in very different directions.
