Do you get what you pay for?

My odd little fable “Ekte’s Mirror” appears in the first volume of Owen Wears’ “The New Exterus: The Journal of the Speculative, the Fantastic, and the Bizarre.” Ekte is an enchanted smith and a wonder-worker whose creations are shaped exactly to meet the demands of customers…. but not necessarily quite in the way they imagine. This story wandered in out of the dark and sat down in my mind perhaps ten years ago, and I’m glad that it’s finally taken its proper shape and found a good home.
