“Between Us and Them” is about having difficult conversations across political and ethical divides–not just the divide between parties (despite the cover). It doesn’t purport to be a failsafe guide to constructive dialogue… I don’t believe such a thing exists. It does offer some suggestions for learning to understand our own motives as well as the motives of folks who disagree with us, some techniques for holding conversations that don’t devolve into shouting matches, and some resources for further reading and practice.
